The Promise of Technology

by Afan O. Halabja

In a very brilliant speech Ray Kurzweil talked about the promise of technology in some next years. Having facilitated the humanity so far and having astonished the world, technology speedily is going to elaborate its capabilities all over the world. At the very beginning of his speech, he talked about the meritorious impact of technology on the poverty and diseases.. I am very thrilled and energized by what Kurzweil said.
"We have tools to address the problems, like poverty and disease," he said. Then he talked about how those tools helped us to trim down the poverty rate in the world. "In 1990, there were 500.000.000 people under the poverty. Few years later the number diminished to 200.000.000, and by 2011 it will be 20.000," he estimated. "We have the potential to overcome the poverty and disease problems by technology," he reported. Those promises are not dreams, but they are all true. Whoever in the world lends a hand to overcome eradicate the poverty is magnificent, and I am really grateful to him or her. Now I don't know how to thank technology for its immaculate and continual job towards diminishing the poverty and disease in the world
